Marywood Participates in Open Your Ears Challenge
Marywood University’s mascot, Maxis Marywood, was challenged by Blu, Honesdale National Bank’s mascot, to participate in the “Open Your Ears” Challenge. Blu’s purpose is to educate children on the importance of money management and keeping families and communities financially healthy!
The “Open Your Ears Challenge” was a social media campaign, created by The Honesdale National Bank. The challenge was created to encourage the community to “open their ears” and start listening and actively participating in ways we could all make a difference. The rules were simple; take a video of your mascot opening an ear of corn, post the video on social media along with 3 mascot nominations of your choosing, and tag #openyourearschallange. The Honesdale National bank donated $50 to the CEO Harry and Jeannette Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank; up to $1000 for every mascot that participated in the challenge; along with a $100 donation to the winning mascot’s charity of choice.
Maxis was nominated by The Honesdale National Bank and had some tough competition, competing alongside local mascots including Tux from the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins. Maxis powered through, winning the challenge with a record-beating time of 3 seconds. To watch Maxis open his ear of corn, visit https://youtu.be/G63dEsE9o98.
Marywood chose to donate its winnings to St. Joseph's Center of Scranton, a charity near and dear to our campus community.
