NAfME Chapter to Give Its First Charity Concert
Marywood University’s Chapter of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) gave its first Charity Concert on Friday, October 9, 2020, from 7-10 p.m., in the Lower Pit Parking Lot, on the University’s campus. The Charity Concert was a drive-in event, and was free and open to the public.
Marywood students performed music that ranges from pop to jazz, and the concert benefited Little Kids Rock, a charity that transforms the lives of students by restoring, expanding, and innovating music education in public schools.
Music nourishes the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. By educating students in music, especially at a young age, we invest in their growth and development and enrich the broader society. Marywood’s NAfME Chapter volunteers more than 100 hours collectively, hosting 3-4 large music festivals for students in grades 6-12 each year. These festivals provide students with large ensemble experiences, the opportunity to work with first-rate clinicians, and the chance to interact with other music students from around the region.
