So, whether you need a listening ear, some advice, or a little extra guidance, don’t hesitate to reach out. You’ve got this, and we're here to help you make the most of your time at Marywood.

Tips to stay balanced:

Dealing with Anxiety

Anxiety can sneak up on you, but these tips might help you take back control:

  • Try Mindfulness: Simple things like deep breathing or a quick meditation session can help calm those racing thoughts.
  • Get Organized: Breaking your to-do list into smaller tasks can make things feel less overwhelming.
  • Reach Out for Support: The Psychological Services Center is here for you with personalized therapy sessions that fit your needs. It's okay to ask for help.

Coping with Depression

Feeling low or like everything's a struggle? You’re not alone, and there are things that can make a difference:

  • Stay Active: Even a little exercise can lift your mood by releasing endorphins.
  • Lean on Friends and Family: Sometimes just talking it out with someone you trust can help.
  • Get Professional Support: Marywood’s Psychological Services Center offers one-on-one sessions with licensed professionals who understand what you're going through. They’re here to help with both short-term and ongoing support.

Handling Homesickness

Missing home is totally normal, especially at the start of the semester. Here are some tips that might help:

  • Stick to a Routine: Having a set schedule can give you a sense of comfort.
  • Stay in Touch: Regular FaceTime or calls with family and friends can make you feel closer to home.
  • Get Involved at Marywood: Join a club, attend an event, or just get out there and meet new people. You can also check out group therapy sessions at the Psychological Services Center to connect with others who are in the same boat.

  • Workshops and Screenings: Join a workshop or take a quick screening for anxiety or depression.

Quick Tips for Mental Wellness

  • Limit Social Media: Scrolling through everyone else’s highlight reel can make you feel worse, so take a break when you need it.
  • Be Kind to Yourself: It’s okay to have bad days. Give yourself some grace and ask for help if you need it.
  • Move Your Body: Exercise doesn’t have to be intense—a walk around campus can do wonders for your mood.

Your mental health matters, and Marywood’s Psychological Services Center is here to have your back. Remember, you're never alone in this.
