The Nursing Program has been granted approval status by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. Upon graduation with the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, graduates not previously licensed to practice nursing will be eligible to apply to take the Registered Nurse Licensure Examination (NCLEX). The baccalaureate degree in nursing program at Marywood University is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
It is the policy of the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing to deny licensure to any graduate who has been convicted of a felony related to a controlled substance, with certain exceptions. The term “convicted” includes a judgment, an admission of guilt, or a plea of nolo contendere. Any student or prospective student to whom this policy may apply should contact the State Board of Nursing for advisement.
In Fall 2019, the Marywood Nursing program received word that the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) had awarded the BSN program continuing, ten-year accreditation through December 31, 2029

What Can You Do with a Nursing Degree?
There are so many cool things you can do with a nursing degree. First up, we’ve got nurse practitioners. These guys are like the ultimate health partners. They're all about preventing and managing diseases, and they bring a personal touch to healthcare. Then there are nurse administrators. These guys keep the hospital running smoothly by supervising and training nurses, making schedules, and doing performance reviews. They don't work directly with patients, but they definitely affect their experiences. If you're into teaching, you could be a nurse educator. You could work in a nursing school or even in a hospital, training staff. It's all about creating a stimulating and flexible environment and influencing the nursing profession. School nurses are also a thing. They take care of the physical, mental, emotional, and social health of students. They do screenings, first aid, and medication administration, and they're the first line of emergency care. Triage nurses are super important too. They assess patients to figure out what kind of care they need. They work in all sorts of healthcare settings and help reduce wait times and get the best outcomes for patients. Finally, if you're a bit of a wanderlust, you could be a travel nurse. You'll work through an agency and get to explore new cities while earning a competitive salary and getting benefits like travel stipends and free housing.

Visit Undergraduate Admissions
In addition to the completed application form and fee, the candidate to be considered for admission must send to the Office of Admissions the following information:
- A minimum of 1040 (Evidence based reading and writing plus math sections) SAT, with a minimum of 530 in the math section.
- One letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor, teacher, or other person familiar with the student’s academic background.
- An official high school and/or university transcript with an indication of class rank and/or QPA.

To progress to the Nursing Major courses, the student must:
- Have the required physical ability to perform in the nursing profession.
- Achieved a QPA of ≥3.0 and be admitted into the nursing major (students in the category of 'Undeclared, Interest in Nursing' are ineligible to take nursing courses)
- Complete the following cognate courses or their equivalent, with a minimum of “C” or better

Marywood University's Nursing Program boasts state-of-the-art simulation labs that provide students with a realistic and immersive learning experience. The simulation labs are equipped with advanced mannequins that can mimic various medical conditions, allowing students to practice their skills in a safe and controlled environment. The Nursing School facilities are equipped with a wide range of medical equipment and supplies, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in performing various nursing procedures. Under the guidance of experienced faculty, students can practice tasks such as administering medications, taking vital signs, and performing wound care, ensuring they are well-prepared for their clinical rotations.
Center for Natural & Health Sciences
The Department of Nursing is located in the Center for Natural & Health Sciences. It is equipped with a state of the art simulation laboratory. It also houses the Comerford Theatre, which is one of the largest lecture halls on campus.
Clinical Simulation Lab
The use of SimMan and Vital Sim Models along with the newly purchased Nursing Anne and SimMom provides an opportunity to experience realistic clinical situations. The new skills lab is a state of the art facility that helps students establish fundamental critical thinking skills that can be applied in nursing practice.
Student Lounge
Within the sim lab, students have access to a student lounge where they can study and socialize and they have access to a microwave and refrigerator. Students can access the lab and the lounge with their Marywood ID card.
Computer Lab
Students have access to a computer lab with up-to-date resources for academic development located right inside the Center for Natural & Health Sciences. Other computer labs are available across campus.
Nursing Skills Lab
The Nursing Skills Lab in the Center for Natural and Health Sciences is equipped with patient simulators, Turning Point technology, and patient mannequins that afford students the opportunity to practice a range of nursing skills. This simulation lab offers students an environment to apply knowledge in a safe setting, fostering critical thinking. The simulators are programmed to respond physiologically to diseases, trauma, and interactions as human beings. Realistic patient scenarios can be simulated in a controlled environment in which students can practice the nursing process, critical thinking, and decision making.
The Nursing Department utilizes various healthcare facilities that include acute and critical care, pediatric, obstetrics, long term care, psychiatric and mental health, and community care settings. These facilities serve populations of culturally and ethnically diverse backgrounds, offering the students exposure to a microcosm of the larger global community in which they will practice after graduation.
