Kara attended Marywood University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Pre-Physician Assistant Studies and a minor in Nutrition & Dietetics in 2013. She then went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies in 2014 where she completed a 12-week emergency medicine specialty track.
Upon graduating, Kara began working in emergency medicine both at Community Medical Center & Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton. Kara then went on to expand her skills and practice dermatology at Lackawanna Valley Dermatology Associates in Scranton where she completed the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants Diplomate Fellowship Program.
Kara joined the Physician Assistant Program at Marywood University in 2021 where she serves as a Clinical Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Practice. She primarily works with the second-year clinical students to prepare them for PANCE and clinical practice, but also teaches Patient Assessment & Clinical Correlations and the Dermatology module of Clinical Medicine during the didactic year.
Kara resides in Olyphant with her husband, Ryan, and their sons, Tucker and Kash. She is an avid New York Yankees fan enjoys spending time outdoors with her family.
