Sara Melick
Student Presents Research
Sarah Melick, student of Dr. Jay P. Clymer III, presents her graduate research “Effects of Acid Mine Drainage on the Catawissa Creek Watershed.”
Sara collected water samples from 4 different points of the watershed. She tested various qualities of the water and observed different specimens of macroinvertebrates. Sara concluded that the high levels of aluminum and the lower levels of pH led to the absence of macroinvertebrates and fish in areas of the stream.
