How Can You Reignite Your Passion Without Starting Over?
Hailey Gianoni knew she wanted to be a nurse. But it wasn’t until she transferred to Marywood University as a sophomore that she truly discovered her passion.
Hailey grew up in Quakertown, PA and went to Lansdale Catholic High School. On several occasions, she found herself helping to care for her two siblings who were injury prone. She assisted them and helped make them comfortable while they recovered from broken bones and other injuries. It wasn’t until after a hospital stay of her own when she was in High School that she realized her calling. She wanted to become a nurse and help people feel better.
Hailey enrolled in her first college choice. And after a rough first semester she found herself questioning her career decision. As it turned out, it wasn’t the career. She realized that it was the school. It just wasn’t what she wanted, and she considered a transfer. After looking for colleges with great nursing programs and ones that would accept the credits she had already earned, Hailey decided on Marywood – where nursing starts from Day One.
It’s never easy to start over, but for Hailey, the move to Marywood was even easier than she had hoped. The adjustment to the campus happened more quickly than expected too. She credits her involvement in several clubs and the family feel of the campus for helping her find her fit. What’s even more important, is that at Marywood, she found nursing instructors who had the experience, wanted her to succeed, and gave her the support she needed to move forward in her career.
“I definitely made the right decision choosing Marywood. My instructors believed in me and instilled the confidence I needed. And thanks to them, I’m a great nurse and feel completely prepared for my career.”
Hailey’s clinical experiences at Marywood opened her eyes to the variety of nursing opportunities available to her. In the midst of her internship at Geisinger she discovered a passion for the excitement of the Emergency Room. She now works as a nurse in the ER for Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, Pennsylvania and loves that every day brings something unexpected.
“Marywood gives you experiences to help you succeed. I use what I learned every single day to better my patients’ care. I just love what I do!”
By having the courage to make a change, Hailey reignited her passion for nursing without starting over. And now, when she sees someone in Marywood University gear, she feels a sense of Pacer Pride knowing she’s forever part of the Marywood legacy.
